Ford Telematics Web
Ford Commercial Solutions, part of the Ford Motor Company, has built its own Ford Telematics web platform aimed at large fleet customers. I led major redesign efforts of the web responsive platform based on user research with Fleet Managers in different markets. I also worked on features integrating the Ford Telematics Drive app data into the platform.

1. Vehicle Health Redesign
When I joined the Ford Telematics team at Ford, the platform was in its very MVP state, where the focus was mostly on engineering and building a robust backend to get quality stable data from vehicles. It means that the interface and the experience of the platform was sub-optimal, offering little value to Fleet Managers in terms interpreting the data. The majority of customers subscribed more to the “Data Services” model (raw data access) than the full platform access, illustrating the lack of value of the platform.
One of the main job of a Fleet Manager is to keep track of the fleet health and maximize uptime (making sure the vehicle do not get pulled out of the road for maintenance too often). Ford, as an OEM, is better placed than anybody to provide accurate, unique data about the vehicle’s health.
I led the redesign of the Health section of the platform, from generative interviews to production design. The main objective was to offer a concise, easy-to-digest and actionable overview of the fleet health to fleet managers.
The new designs got very good feedback from both existing and potential customers with remarks such as “When is this out?” or “I really need this for my fleet right now”.
2. New Feature Work
Here is an example of some UX and UI work I have done on the platform. This consisted in enabling the Fleet Manager to configure what daily driver checks should the drivers perform using the Ford Telematics Drive app. This entailed the creation of new checklists, edition, deletion and more.
It required me to think about several challenges:
How best to display and communicate what the different checklists contain and what vehicles are associated to it?
How to handle different roles and permissions? (Some users would have “read-only” permissions)
How to offer a simple interface to re-arrange, create and manage long checklists?
Documenting the work for remote engineers
I produced detailed documentation and flows to ensure that design decisions were captured somewhere and that engineers can have the information necessary on hand on the other side of the globe.
3. Platform overhaul and design system
The design and engineering team pushed management to start a design system initative as both the codebase and the designs struggled to be consistent with multiple teams and multiple products. I was part of the Global Interface team that had the responsibility to re-think and rebuild the entirety of theFord Telematics UI while fixing the UX on outstanding issues surfaced by user testing. I focused on delivering an up-to-date foundation, creating a brand new component library and mocking up new screens.
